Note to self..

"When teasing or playing with the dog", Wear Pants...lol. Thankfully Brocks nails are trimmed and not sharp otherwise this could have been a bad day...That would have been at least 200 stitches or more.. He managed to get me from my knee all the way to the ankle..lol.

He looked so concerned afterwards I felt kind of bad.. I didnt't scold him as it was in play and my own stupidity. Like I said, though, glad his nails are short and not sharp...

💙 Rear seat cover..

current seat cover

Well, Brandon our son sent over a rear seat cover for the Rogue so that I can again start taking Brock for rises .. It is installed but I am not so sure I like it and the way it fits. It does cover the entire rear seating area, however kind of haphazardly. And where the seatbelt hooks come up into the rear, the thing doesn't actually fit very well, making it look kind of sloppy and loose. But hey it was free and will work for now I guess.

I did manage to find one that I really like the concept of, its actually a covered board with door panel covers that can mount to the hand rails basically making a box and covering the door armrests and panels as the doors are leather and Brock likes to hang his head out the window, therefore stepping on the door and I dont want his nails doing damage or scratching it all up.

More what I want..

💙 Couldn't pass it up..

Dad came across this cool little bowl, box combo at a Goodwill store and couldn't pass it up. He bought it for me. Its just the right height and I can eat and drink easily from it and the box itself stores my food inside. The lid and bowls are heavy enough that I can't actually get into it.. Fairly good sized too as it holds approx. half of a 50lb. bag of my dry food.

It fits nicely under the island overhang, so now I have my own little spot to call my own..

Update..

Things have settled down and we have developed a routine now, so there really hasn't been much to post about as of late. I continue to develop our relationship with mom/dad and the household, take my walks, which I am getting much better at. Dad bought me a new no pull harness with my name tags on it, and I like showing it off. Since buying the new car I have not gone on a ride due to dad not having a seat or console protector. He doesn't want me to scratch up the new interior with my strong nails.. So I have to wait until he remedies that situation.. I am waiting patiently though, 'cause I love my rides with dad. Its been a week since I have taken a ride and I am getting antsy bout it...lol.

He is just being cautious because its a combination of cloth and faux leather, and my nails would surely leave marks on either material, especially the leather, and of course the console, my favorite spot to be, is all leather..hmmm.

Hopefully he figures out something fairly soon..

💙 My Console Surfer

This goofball and his rides..  He loves going for rides and checking out everything along the way. He bounces from rear windows and sticking his out out to greet strangers pulled along side at stop lights to parking his ass on the console so he doesn't miss a thing.

He occasionaly just puts his head on the shoulder of either myself or whomever happens to be the passenger. He rides great just have to hold him back when I come to stops as he is not steady on his feet yet.. still figuring out the whole balance issue on the console.lol. I enjoy taking him along as much as he loves going.. Although I could do without the occasional wet-willies in my ear..

-- and yes, Dad has seat belted me in the rear.. I did not have my harness on this time though, and I do have a new leash built just for that purpose coming on delivery hopefully this week.

💙 The Final Stretch..

Took our evening stroll and I had fun sniffing almost everything. Dad forgot to hit the record button until we turned the corner in the park and was across from the house. Still love getting out and checking out the neighborhood though. Seems the more I get out the more things I have to smell or gets my attention. I love my little walks with dad, still learning from one another, but its fun..

💙 Mastering the walk..

Sporting my new harness and walking abilities..No pulling, casual strolls..now I get excited when I see Dad grab my harness 'cause I know I am going for an adventure/walk. Its a safety orange mesh with padding in the hot spots for no or low friction, with a reflective border for night vision safety. Wasn't to sure about it the first couple walks, but I am use to it and look forward to it now. I walk really nice with no tension or corrections needed now. If dad puts a little pressure on the leash I slow my pace or will look at him for direction/guidence now.. I am a good boy who just love to take stolls and sniff everything around..lol.

💙 Everything they need ??

"Everything your dog needs" and a whole lot of crap they don't.. Have to hand it to advertisers and marketing teams, make it look good, sound good and they will buy.. fell for it hook line and sinker myself.

Do yourself and your pooch a favor... read the ingredients. Get educated a little on dogs nutritional needs. Pay close attention to the first couple ingredients on the list, that is a tell all about the product you are about to buy and feed your furry friend / family member.

I have come to learn that Preservatives, Fillers, and By-Products are a major No No...

things like:

Barley, oatmeal, corn, grains, soy, wheat glutten, white rice...all bad over time to your pets overall health. NO BHT, BHA preservative..Meat By-Products are a definite NO..

There is also a Number one NO-NO... never feed them Deli Meats of any kind, there are so many processes and additives, etc. in these meats that just screw up your dogs digestive system, and many of these chemicals linger in your dogs for longer periods of time causing other health issues that can develop down the road.

The more you can clone nature the better when it comes to foods for your furry friend. Things like:

Turkey Hearts, Liver, oassionally some Ginger in low amounts, fish, and other natural foods like veggies, some fruits, etc. You have to remember that their ancestors where carnivorous, eating animals and other natural things and thrived for centuries. MEAT.. not dried out, baked kibble full of junk from the processing plants and mass produced name brands. The more natural the better.

I could rant for hours, but enough said.. just be sure to read the ingredients before waisting your money on fillers, etc, and give your pet the best chance at a healthy, happy life. Yes it can be more expensive to go this route, but hey are you in it for the love, and health of your friend, or just pascifying their hunger with whatever ya have or can afford at the moment??? If ever in doubt, REAEARCH before applying !

Take a look... the word Supplement appears no less than 5 times in this ingredient list.. granted its vitimins, but it is still a produced by-product of something else. First ingredient is Corn.. that tells you what the primary ingredient is in this bag of kibble..ground yellow corn, corn germ meal, and soybean meal (soybean meal has industrial applications, such as in biodiesel production and as a component in some plastics and cleaners. ) Seriously..??? I know its a high protien based animal, poultry and livestock feed.. but seriously.. It says Chicken flavor, but where is the chicken?

Take another look at the front of the bag.. I see Chicken, Pork, Beef...where is it in the list of ingredients??? Marketing at its best....

*** Disclaimer

I am not deliberately pointing out the flaws of Purina, this is true of most major brands of dog food, and I am merely pointing out buyer-be-ware... read the ingredients, get educated, and feed your pet what they crave and will be happy with for a longer life.

💙 Inflammatory Laryngitis

I have developed what I believe to be inflammatory laryngitis. I tried to bark at a sound I heard yesterday and all of a sudden, boom a horse bark developed. Not sure if its allergy related, or what, because I hardly ever strain my vocals as I do not bark a lot, only on occasion. Dad had given me a new treat over the past day or so, and is now wondering if there is something in them that I may have had a reaction to, so he has stopped giving them to me for now to see if it make any difference.

Hopefully it is just something simple and not a more serious condition that can lead to respiratory issues down the road. We will keep an eye/ear on it for a day or two and see how things go, otherwise a trip to the vet may be necessary to rule out other things.

--------------------------

When we adopted him, the staff said the previous owner stated he had a cough of sorts, and they along with us had not observed or heard any such cough, and the vet said his lungs sounded great.. Wondering if this was something they misinterpreted as a cough and its been happening off and on previously. Its kind of like when we talk and suddenly our voice cracks.. well his bark does the same thing. He gets maybe one bark and then it kicks in.

UPDATE: 07/18/2025

Seems to have passed over a couple days. I am guessing that after his first encounter with the other dog and putting a lot of strain on his neck, may have caused an irritation to the larynx, and his first bark after a day to relax, kind of just wasn't there..a few corrections within 36 hours for his attempting to bark and keeping him mellow, seems to have worked out ok for him as he no longer has that harsh, hourse sounding bark, he is back to normal and we have since changed him to a harness for his walks taking the collar pressure off his neck, and larynx area.

💙 Affraid I am not..

Well so far we have determined that sudden loud noises do not seem to alarm him any. He has sat on the porch durring some thunderstorms with close lightning strikes, the fireworks having been set off close by in the neighborhood, and he doesn't even flinch. he sends a glance toward me or the closest person to see if things are alright, but thats about all you get out of him. So its good to know that he is not reactive or gets into an anxiety stage. He's basically pretty chill. Only thing that triggers his reactiveness are other dogs in his close vacinity. From a distance he could care less, he just watches them, but up close and withing a range of about 20-30 feet he responds. Tenses up, goes on the offensive, but we are/will work on that. So far he has been great with people, he met and welcomed our mechanic the other day with no issues at all, basically just a hey, I'm here, pet me dude.....a couple sniffs and a tail wag and he was all good. He has met and said a how-do to a couple of Nikki's co-workes with absolutely no issues as well. We have yet to introduce him to our grandddaughter Aria to see how he does with children, however I do not anticipate there being any issues but we will take precautions just the same until we know for sure.

He is basically a happy go lucky pooch who likes to chill out and not be bothered unless on his terms..lol. He is very affectionate but that also comes with some red flags according to several animal behaviorists so we are still in the sit and see aspect of this whole relationship. We are aware, he is aware, and so far it seems to be working out ok for all.

💙 On the Hunt.

On the hunt for this Purina Pro Plan dog food. I have talked to several folks and many have recommended it and use it for their dogs. According to most its a bit expensive for the amount you get, however they say its really the best deal as far as a healthy food source and pooch. Of course there are other flavors as well and priced accordingly too... I would like to get brock on a consistant diet as far as eating choices so long as he enjoys the taste and will eat it. Since we took ownership of him, he has been getting different kinds of food and its starting to mess with his digestion and pooping. He has been getting some severe gassiness and stench from mixing foods and his stools are now becoming really loose and runny. So I would prefer a consistant food source to see if that will make a difference in his overall health.

I do know that several local grocers like Walmart and Pet co, etc have this brand of foods, its the cost comparrison thats a bit harsh. I've seen anything betwen $20.00 for this 6 lb. bag upward of $70.00 for a 48-50 lb. bag. But I guess iffin' ya love 'em, it comes with it right..! So I will be price comparing and shopping for this food for Brock.. for all our benefit. Besides I guess $20.00 for a 6 lb. bag is worth the trial to see how he does with it, then maybe a bigger purchase down the road.. we'll see.

UPDATE: 07/19/2025

Managed to find the brand at a local PetSmart. Also managed to get a case of the wet food as well for topping of the dry to keep interest and for added flavor. Includes the veggies and such.. Yah!

Natural ProBiotic Fiber, nourishes specific intestinal bacteria for digestive health..

Live Pro-Biotics, helps promote gut microbiome resilience during naturally occuring stress..

High Quality Protein, helps support strong muscles, including a healthy heart..

Omega-6, fatty acids and Vitamin-A to nourish skin and healthy coat..

Crunchy kibble, and tender, shredded pieces for delicious taste and texture..

💙 Z-Z-zz-z.(out COLD)

This boy has had a busy/active day today. He is actually snoring, he is out hard! Normally I cannot even tip-toe past him and he jumps up ready to follow no matter where or when.. NOT this time..lol.

Its good to know I am able to keep him active enough to get tired and just relax at night. Neighborhood dogs ar barking and he is none the wiser. Wish I could sleep so soundly as he does.

💙 Well there is a first time..

Today was the first time I have seen Brock be reactive to another dog while out taking our walk. Another dog about the same size was walking toward us with its owner. Neither of us saw each other due to the overhanging tree branches and being on a corner turn of the sidewalk, we both just got a surprise yank on the leash. All was good, were still at a decent distance from one another so we quickly gained control of the dogs. We were both appologetic toward each other and went about our walks. But it was the first time I have seen Brock get reactive other than an occasional bark if he hears another dog in the neighborhood.

We may just be taking advantage of the Obedience Classes that BSCO offers for adopted dogs. It could have turned out ugly, but all is/was well. Just a big surprise for everyone involved . I know his intentions were good as he looked at me afterwards looking for approval or dis-approval of his actions.I don't think it was a fight or flight reaction, more-so a protective action of me and his proximity area. Verbally corrected, treat withheld, accepted consequence. Quickly jumped back into his normal self, but we will definitely be working on that issue as there are a lot of folks with dogs in the area that walk the same lanes and park, and for continuity and calmness of all, its a neccesity.

💙QR code

Today I recieved my QR Coded coller ID. This device is offered by Hey Buddy. Its  great way to keep track of me if/should I wonder away from my home or Mom/Dad. It has a link to my profile and can give all the details you need to know to contact them. Once you scan the device, It will send an alert to dads phone app. telling him that you found and have me safe. Great small device for so much relief. If you have pets of your own, you might consider getting one for your beloved pet, its great peace of mind.

Thanks for caring dad.!

💙 My new present

Im so happy... Look what mom/dad got me today. No more laying on an old chair cushion that was way to small anyway or on the concrete porch floor. I love this new thing, its soft, fluffy and can even raise my head while laying down. Look at me just 'chillin here, I now have the good life and finally feel like I am home forever. It is truly my Independance Day!

They also got me a bunch of tennisballs to play with, but I'm not really into that much, at least not yet, first thing I did was schootch them off of my bed..lol.

Eventually we would like to get Brock to use his bed at night and stop being a bed hog in ours..But either way we adjust and will allow him to sleep on ours for the time being, he just loves to curl up next to us and nestle in for a good nights sleep.

He is such a happy boy, and it really doesn't take much to please him.

💙 1st Vet visit in the books..

Well I now have my first vet. visit on record. Today dad took me to the Island for an established visit and a check-up. All was good, I was tempted only a couple times to play with others in the waiting area but I listened really well and stayed to myself like I am suppose to. I greeted people nicely and listened well.

We were given some medicated shampoo to address my dry skin issue, and my next dose of flee/heartworm, etc. to take home as I am due for them again. Might possibly have an alergy of some sorts due to the frequent red eyes and goopies I get lately.. So we were asked to just keep an eye on that and if needed we could use on OTC drops to help that issue.

I do have some sort of small bump/growth on my right rear toe as well, to keep an eye on. The vet said it was still to small to get a needle in there and see what was going on with that. Just to be aware and keep an eye on it so that it doesn't get any bigger and to also be sure to lather up them toes with the medicated shampoo when bathing to see if that will clear it up any.

Otherwise I am a healthy/ happy doggo. Temp. was right on, heart rate was great, and no apparent lingering effects of any previous issues. I also have gained 1 1/2 pounds, I am now 60lbs..

I was so well behaved everybody was giving me treats and when folks left the room I just layed there chillin' !

Today I saw:

     Dr. Cloe Williams DVM.

💙 Establishing the vet

Tomorrow I get to go to a new Vet that Mom/Dad have selected for me. Its basically a meet and greet with a simple review of my medical record, a few how-do's, etc. I will be using the Island Animal Hospitals team of vets and techs for my health and wellness now over on Merrit Island.

Looking forward to going and meeting some new foks and get my bill of health. Hopefully I will never need their services other than for regular shots, check ups, etc. Do not plan to have any emergencies, but ya just never know and its nice to know who will be trying to fix me up if I do.Maybe we can snap a couple pictures of the adventure and the fine folks that are over there, we'll see!

💙 What I Mastered today..

Today or I should say this morning I demonstrated my ability for total recall on a non-verbal command for "sit" My dad was so proud of me too. He used a closed hand followed by lifting his pinky finger and I new what that meant and complied without hesitation. be sure to check out my "Training "page to see a short video of my success. My dad is so proud of me... thats one down and I dont know how many more he has planned for me, but I am willing to learn..by the way don't I look cute and handsome?? I told ya I am the perfet package in a small body..😋

On a side note I also got my own Email address from Google today ( brockton.lee25@gmail.com ) so now you lovely folks can email me anytime and you can also use the new ( chatango ) widget on the rightside of my page. I so want to share my journey with you all and having the ability to communicate is just awesome...

💙 Day- # II

Coming out of his shell a little bit today. Seems more relaxed and at ease in the house and yard, went for a couple walks in the neighborhood and is getting comfortable with neighborhood sounds, visuals, etc.

Doesn't seem to be reactive to people and other animals that we have seen so far. He has caught glimpses of a few different birds a squirrel, a couple dogs and a few people walking around  he does like to sound off a little to the neighbors little dog, I think it's a chihuahua mix of sorts. He's not agressive toward it at all, just likes to let him know he is out and can see him..lol. He is getting the hang of the sit command and a visual cue, still doesn't recognize his name. Hoping he does after repeated usage and association.

It was great to see him actually have a spurt of playfulness today, 'cause up till now it was all just kisses, following around and snoozing..Would like to see him get more active and playful over the next couple days, we shall see..

💙 Night #1

Brock was/is such an easy made pooch for sure. At first hesitant but now extremely comfortable in daily routine of the household. Lastnight he hesitated at first to enter the bedroom area, but once he figured out he was allowed, he made himself comfy and climbed right up on the bed, snuggled in and stayed right there until I awoke around 12:30 pm to use the restroom, and of course, he had to be on my heals so he followed suit, then proceeded to climb right back in again. Figured due to his size he would be a bed hog, but he was well behaved and took up minimal space and slept like he hadnt been that easy in a long time.

Still loves his car rides and is very aware of his limitations in the car. He settles in, will put his head on the shoulder of any passenger and occasionally will just pop up and throw you a kiss saying thank you for the ride..Today he got his first bathing experience here at home. Most dogs I know, or have had experience with other than Scarlet hates bathtime. He finally was coaxed into the shower stall, but once there he took it like a champ. Figured he wouldn't win any battle anyway so he just stood there accepting the fact he was gunna get bathed regardless. Had to rid some of that kennel smell he had been tagging along with him. Still doesn't smell like roses and prob. never will, but at least its tolerable now and not as pungent as before.

He is so easy to deal with, have only heard him get vocal two or three times and its a very short warning one or two barks, just to say I am here and see you..  then he quets right down and just observes. He loves to listen and observe everything going on around him,  He has the sweetest personality and has the best temperment. Other than not knowing or recognizing his name, he still needs some basic skills like sit, stay, no, down, etc. Hopefully in time he will recognize his name and if all else fails the adopting facility has offered classes on a weekly basis to help get him over those hurdles.

All in all, I think we both got lucky, apparently we were comfortable enough and gladly accepted one another as friends and that bond should only get stronger as we go on. He is such a good boy, just need a little guidence and lots of love..of which we are willing to provide hands down.

Sheriff's dept. forwarded his paperwork via email today as well, so now we have his health records as best they know them, his mirochip number and facility that monitors it, we are working on setting up a perminant vet, and health insurance should they be needed, we want the best for this guy.

💙 Newest Family Member

 I was Acquired today 06/27/2025

he was a return to the shelter for whatever reason.. It's beyond my understanding as to why someone would go through the trouble of rescuing a dog, then giving up on them...he is so gentle and a big baby... if you adopt or plan to adopt.. be SURE you are in it for life..

It is so unfair to the animals to get their expectations and hopes up, and then just shatter them all over again... Rest assured, he is HOME now forever !!

This is Brock Lee.. Taking his freedom ride. We adopted him from (Brevard County Sheriff's Office) BCSO/PetCo rescue. He is 3 -3 1/2 years old and a snuggle bug. Likes to be right on your heals and be part of what ever is going on. Wasn't going to have another dog, but just couldn't resist his reactions to me when I approached him for the first time. He's a handsome dude, well behaved and somewhat chill at least so far.

So far he has moved right in, made himself comfy and enjoyed lovin's and treats.. Been exposed to the dogs next door and across the pond, by the birds, our daughter and son in law, and all is great. Have nly heard him bark once at the heighbors dog more so because I think they surprised him..lol. He's had a big day today and is currently passed out on a chair cushion on the back porch with us. We'll see how he does tonight come bed time.. He is still a little skiddish when it comes to entering the bedroom area and stands at the door with a real inquisitive look on his face., as if to ask can I come in or no way, not happening..but where he has to be right on your heals, I'm sure he will adjust and feel more comfortable in entering the room.

💙 Intro

Hi there, my name is Brockton, aka Brock. I dont recognize my name as yet due to I was a rescue pup and placed with the BCSO and the SPCA in Brevard County, Florida.

Apparently my previous owners had some sort of issues with me and I was either surrendered or was one of the many that turned to the streets as a stray. I don't know why 'cause I am the bestest and most well behaved little guy around.

I was adopted once before and was returned for whatever reason after only three days.. I don't understand why nobody wants my love and campanionship as much as I do theirs. I am sweet, well mannered, loveable, playful, and will keep you protected should the need arise. I may be on the smaller size of some of my companions, but I have a streak in me that I hope I never have to show.

I am learning my basic commands, mainly because I didn't have anyone care enough to teach me and let me learn to be the bestest pup around. I am eager to please, willing to learn, and well lets face it.. I am the total package in a dog that someone will love.

I am glad and very happy to announce that I have again been adopted after that nasty surrender I just went through. My new family has accepted me the way I am and is willing to take the time needed to better myself and my life.

Follow along on my new life journey with susbscribing to this blog. Stay up to date on my progress and the loving I give to them and the loving I get in return. Its going to be an exciting and fulfilling life, I just know it is.. We are off to a great start.

Feel free to stop on by anytime and leave me some encouraging words, messages and some love, I'll soak it all up and be a better pup for it.. Thanks for stopping by, best wishes Brock..
